A variety of compounded medications, tailored for men and women’s unique needs.
Oral Medications: Most ED treatments are taken orally. Avrio compounds lozenges to dissolve in the mouth which makes administration easy. Take the medication, as directed, typically about 30 minutes to an hour before sexual activity.
Understanding Your Dosage
– Sildenafil (Viagra®): The typical starting dose is 50 mg, taken on an empty stomach about one hour before sexual activity. The dose can be adjusted (up or down) based on effectiveness and tolerability, with a maximum recommended dose of 100 mg.
– Tadalafil (Cialis®): Usually started at 10 mg, taken about 30 minutes before sexual activity. You may take it with or without food. Depending on your response, the dose may be adjusted (up or down) to 5mg or 20 mg. Tadalafil can also be taken daily in a lower dose (2.5 or 5 mg) for continuous treatment.
-Vardenafil (Levitra®): Usually dosing is 10mg or 20mg orally about 30 minutes to 60 minutes prior to sexual activity. May be taken with food, but a high fat meal may delay onset.
-Compounded ED medication: Compounded to meet your individual need into an easy to administer lozenge to aid in absorption. The ingredients sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil may be compound alone or in combination with other medications, like oxytocin or apomorphine.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition where a man has trouble achieving or maintaining an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. It can be caused by various factors, including medical conditions, medications, or psychological issues.
Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider. Most ED medications are taken orally, usually about 30 minutes to 60 minutes before sexual activity. Food may or may not alter the effectiveness of your treatment. Make sure to consult with a pharmacist prior to first using any new medication. If you have other forms of medication, such as injections or gels, use them as directed.
Common side effects may include headaches, flushing, upset stomach, and nasal congestion. Serious side effects are rare but should be reported to your healthcare provider immediately. Do not take these medications if you currently take nitrates, guanylate cyclase stimulators, or have a known history of serious reactions to any phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (PDE5) like sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, or avanafil. Make your provider and pharmacy aware of all your current medications and medical conditions.
Most patients experience results within 30 to 60 minutes of taking the medication. The effectiveness and onset of action can vary based on the individual, the specific medication used, and if taken with or without food. Most medications will last up to 4 hours.
