Semaglutide and Tirzepatide at Avrio Pharmacy

At Avrio Pharmacy, we compound both semaglutide and tirzepatide. These medications are often prescribed to help reduce blood sugar and/or support weight management. Semaglutide: A GLP-1 receptor agonist that helps control blood sugar levels and promotes weight loss by enhancing insulin secretion and reducing appetite. Tirzepatide: Targets multiple receptors to improve glycemic control and support weight loss by acting on both GLP-1 and GIP receptors. Both semaglutide and tirzepatide are compounded at our pharmacy with an emphasis on quality and safety measures.

Differences Between Semaglutide and Tirzepatide

How It Works: Semaglutide works as a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Semaglutide stimulates insulin secretion, decreases glucagon release, slows gastric emptying, and increases satiety. Tirzepatide, on the other hand, is a GLP-1 and a GIP receptor agonist. The GIP receptor agonist activity of tirzepatide has been shown beneficial in supporting satiety to support weight loss.

Effectiveness: While both medications are effective for blood sugar control and weight loss, based on published clinical trials, tirzepatide may offer enhanced results regarding weight loss due to its dual action. Patient specific responses for semaglutide and tirzepatide may be expected.

Administration: Both drugs are administered via subcutaneous injection once weekly on the same day of the week. The dosing schedules and frequency may differ based on your clinical response and your provider’s treatment plan.

Understanding Your Dosage for Semaglutide and Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide Dosage: The typical starting dose is 2.5 mg subcutaneously once weekly, with possible adjustments based on individual needs and tolerability. Approved dosages may go up to 15mg once weekly.

Always follow your healthcare provider’s specific instructions for dosage and administration to achieve the best results.
